Subject: Guidance on combatting Proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and Proliferation Financing
Purpose: To inform Regulated Entities for a practical guide on Guidance on combatting Proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and Proliferation Financing.
In Summary:
CySEC has issued the Circular C672 on 23/12/2024 to inform the Cyprus Investment Firms (‘CIFs’), Administrative Service Providers (‘ASPs’), UCITS Management Companies (‘UCITS MC’), Self-Managed UCITS (‘SM UCITS’), Alternative Investment Fund Managers (‘AIFMs’), Self-Managed Alternative Investment Funds (‘SM AIFs’), Self-Managed Alternative Investment Funds with Limited Number of Persons (‘SM AIFLNP’), Companies with sole purpose the management of AIFLNPs, Crypto Asset Service Providers (‘CASPs’), Small Alternative Investment Fund Managers (‘Small AIFMs’), for issuing a practical guide on Guidance on combatting Proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and Proliferation Financing.
The practical guide is available on CySEC’s website.
The practical guide provides, among others, some common definitions and a general understanding on proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and Proliferation Financing (PF) and how it works.
CySEC notes that through the practical guide, the regulated entities will raise their awareness in situations where there may be potential WMD proliferation and/or PF.
CySEC also notes that the practical guide will be updated from time to time, if deemed necessary.
